MethodologyHow the WIAA model works

A within-division rating that blends scoring margin with the quality of the opponents a team actually faced. Wisconsin high schools are split into five divisions by enrollment and rarely cross over, so each division is rated as its own league.

Scoring margin in games against WIAA member schools

Division membership, which bounds every comparison

A rating relative to an average team in the same division

What we publish

Not claimed

Prep statistics are self-reported and inconsistent, so this model carries wider error bars than the college versions. Cross-division comparisons are not meaningful.
